The first M535i was introduced in 1979. This was the first four door M series.
It had a six cylinder engine with 218 HP. It went out of production in 1981.
In 1984 a new E28 M535i was introduced. This model also had a six cylinder with
218 HP.
In 1985 a M5 was introduced. This was the first real M5. It had a six
cylinder engine with 286 HP and a top speed of 245 km/h. It went out of production
in 1988.
In 1989 a new E34 M5 came available. This model had even more power.
It had 315 HP and a top speed of 250 km/h. In 1992 this model received a new
engine which now had 340 HP.
In 1995 a small face lift was made. The E34 M5
went out of production in 1995. A new E39 M5 was introduced in 1998.
This model has an eight cylinder with 400 HP.
