The Z3 was introduced in 1995. It was available as 2 door roadster.
There was one models available: the 1.8. This model had the M43 four cylinder
engine from the E36 3 series.
In 1996 a 1.9 was also available. This model
had a 16 valve four cylinder engine from the E36 318is.
In 1997 the Z3 2.8
was introduced. It had a six cylinder engine with 193 HP. In 1998 the 1.8
received a new engine. It now had 118 HP. There was also a coupe available.
This model had a 2.8 six cylinder with 193 HP.

In 1999 the 2.0 six cylinder
replaced the 1.9 four cylinder. All models received a facelift. The front was
not changed but the rear lights were changed and the car looked bigger now.
This year BMW will replace the 2.8 with the 3.0 which has 231 HP.
